Humane introduces the AI Pin: Wearable AI assistant revolutionizes technology

In between the recent fashion shows in Paris, start-up Humane, founded by former Apple executives, has unveiled its latest innovation: the “AI Pin”. This device goes far beyond the functions of an ordinary smartphone – it is said to be a wearable AI assistant. Naomi Campbell, an internationally renowned supermodel, wore the AI Pin on the runway before it is to be officially unveiled to the world public on November 9.

The AI Pin is a standalone device without a screen that relies on Qualcomm’s advanced Snapdragon platform. It combines projectors, cameras and AI technology in an innovative way. A mini projector acts as a replacement for the traditional smartphone screen and gets support from a camera and speaker.

First glimpses of the AI Pin’s features were provided during a TED Talk in May. There, co-founder and former developer of the iPhone user interface, Imran Chaudhri, presented impressive functions. These include making calls while simultaneously projecting details onto the user’s hand, and overcoming language barriers through AI translation. Still, some aspects of the AI Pin remain shrouded in mystery, such as the exact internet connection types and added value over traditional smartphones.

The future-oriented gadget has already gained a foothold in the fashion scene. Humane presented the cutting-edge AI Pin, which is available in black and white, at the Paris fashion shows. The design of the device is highlighted by the collaboration with Parisian fashion house Coperni and elevates the communication between humans and AI to a cultural and aesthetic level.

In their press release, Humane’s founders, Imran Chaudhri and Bethany Bongiorno, express their respect for the duo of Coperni Arnaud and Sébastien and share their common passion for the interplay between design, creativity and technology. They express that our relationship with technology is fundamentally changing and becoming even more personal as our devices increasingly become extensions of our bodies, minds and hearts. This is what the so-called “wearable AI” of the future looks like.
